Sleep Cycle 7/18/12

18 Jul

10 Jul

The most important part of Gamifying is studying.  I’m going to be more frequent, maybe daily posts about my progress studying for the GMAT.  The aim is to do two hours per day 5-6 days per week until week before Test Day (cut down to one hour just reviewing fundamentals).

Trying to find sweet pace were I can get optimum studying in (quality over quantity) without burnout (which is what happened last time I took test).

Outside of GMAT, I am taking my last UNEX class, which is roughly takes about six hours per week as well and Chinese tutor which is about five hours a week.

After reading about of GMAT blogs, they suggest recording and blogging efforts on a more frequent basis than I’m doing now (right now I am just marking progress on a grid).  I think I’ll start doing this as well.  The more I’m doing this the more I realize it’s just as much, maybe even more mental v time management.  Nothing I’m doing is extraordinarily difficult or needs THAT much time, it’s movement of clear-headed effort.

Fitocracy 7/10/12

10 Jul

Despite not blogging, I have gotten a more consistent workout cycle (60-90 minutes of weight training a week, 150 minutes walking weekdays, longer workouts on weekeneds).

The main goal is to level up each week.  Also ready to up my  game starting from early morning runs since I stopped doing it consistently.

For this week:

  • 150 walking on weekdays
  • Two days of weight training/cardio
  • Longer cardio Sunday (bike/hike)
  • 10 minute run before work MWTF (Tuesdays off since usually need more sleep after late Monday class)

Inching my way up to at least an average of 7 hours of sleep a night.

Eatery update June to now

Back from unintentional end of Q4 mad-rush hiatus.   Time to up these goals to 80%.  I’m hovering around 10lbs down this the start of this experiment.

Redefine Study Schedule

20 Jun

Took a break last week in Vegas.  I led a Gamify-Free (read goal-less) life for a week and felt lost and confused and out of control.

So back to the grind.  Eatery, Fitocracy, and Sleep Cycle updates for tomorrow.

However studying planning is priority today.  I’ll need to study at least 15-20 hours a week it looks like to get some good momentum to take my GMAT at end of Sep and finish Berkeley Extension courses.  I’ve come to realize the best time to get some real studying done in the morning is before work, before a day of exhaustion and temptations at night get to me.  At least I’ll have a lot less stressful of a day.

I’m also going to start doing some hours tracking to figure out where my time goes and how to manage it efficiently for the next two weeks as well.  Print outs time!

Sleep Cycle Week 7

6 Jun

A little better this week, but still not sleeping enough.  On Saturday I ended up knocking up from 7pm to 9am the next day.  Tells me this is not enough.  I contemplated getting a new app because it’s still less than 7 hours and the average is loooong now, but that’s just another challenge.  Even if I haven’t fallen asleep, I’ll be getting rest and sleeping earlier.
